SHOCKER: Ronn Moss QUITS The Bold and Beautiful Reportedly Over 'Salary Issues'!

Okay, this one came out of nowhere! Entertainment Weekly is reporting Ronn Moss is vacating the role of Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Apparently Moss' exit comes amid tense contract negotiations. A rep for B&B confirmed the actor's exit stating:

“Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with B&B,” a rep for Bell Phillip said in a statement. “We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors.”

I cannot imagine B&B without Ridge Forrester. The majority of frontburner storylines during the show's quarter of a century on the air have centered on the fashion scion played by Moss since 1987. Of course that all changed this past season when the show refocused itself around a triangle centered on Scott Clifton's Liam Spencer as the object of two women's affections. Here's hoping this move doesn't prove catastrophic for the internationally popular soap opera.

This really surprised me! Things are getting really bad when someone like Ron Moss is leaving B&B! I never cared for Ridge but I know he's important to the show, or at least used to be. Hopefully this won't affect Brooke and Taylor on the show.
I agree that they show either recast the role or kill Ridge off. Killing Ridge off would make for good story, could make someone like Thorne have more screen time. It would be funny if Peter Reckell was picked up to play Ridge. That would show Days lol.

It takes a LOT to shock me in this day and age where soaps are concerned, but this certainly takes the cake. I FULLY expected B&B's "holy quadrangle" (Susan Flannery, Katherine Kelly Lang, Ronn Moss and John McCook) to be with this show until Jesus came back. I like Ronn, who seems like a genuinely nice guy. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about him or him say anything bad about anyone else. That's a rare quality to find in this business.

But with that being said, his acting has left.....um, a lot to be desired. I hope he isn't considering trying his hand at primetime or film for a bigger paycheck b/c I SERIOUSLY doubt that anyone is gonna pony up the money that the Bells have ponied up over the years.

Best of luck to him, whatever the case may be.

They don't want soaps on CBS anymore. It's obvious. Neither soap is doing anything. Except I hope they pull a rabbit out of the hat with Victor. He seemed a little scruffy and confused Friday.
I don't know these soap stars have had it easy for a long time. I would just sit my behind still and enjoy the money. After 25 years and demanding a raise Ron probably was tired of being in soaps. People don't understand that you should have a few fires going because you walk away from one fire, Baby it's cold outside and nobody is helping anyone these days. I don't care how much money you have life is still difficult when you don't have a job.
I hope he knows what he's doing.

Brad's been focusing the show on the younger generation for awhile now and wasn't planning any big story for Ridge and Brooke. I think there's more to the story than just a contract dispute. Ronn is a good guy but had no intention to fade into the background like John McCook. Ronn's old band is reuniting and will begin touring in Europe. They recently did some promotional touring in Italy.

Personally I hope Bell gives a real s/l to Brooke. I'm so sick of her meddling in her daughter's love life. Maybe they can pair her with Bill.

This development could prove a creative goldmine for The Bold and the Beautiful. Considering the show's (and Ron's) international popularity, a recast is not the best option. The last we see Ridge, he should be boarding the Forrester jet, leaving for Paris where he plans to work at Forrester International for a few days. In true soap fashion, the plane goes down and though wreckage and the pilot’s body are found, Ridge's body is not found. After an "exhausting" search demanded by Stephanie, Brooke and Taylor, officials determine that there could have been no survivors of the crash and that Ridge is in all likelihood dead. (Ridge's body would never be found to allow for Ron Moss' inevitable return when the show is wrapping up its run.) BRIMMING with story possibilities for every character remaining on the canvas, Ridge's death would be like a reboot for the show. The fallout for Brooke, having never remarried Ridge and her stake in Forrester Creations as well as how this effects her relationship will all her children and her connections to Stephanie and Taylor. The impact on Stephanie and Eric's marriage and their relationship with their other children. The fight for Forrester Creations that could be a 4-way battle pitting Thorne/Felicia/Kristen vs. Rick/Bridget vs. Taylor/Thomas/Steffy vs. Brooke/RJ with Stephanie and Eric changing alliances as needed and Bill Spencer holding on to his 12.5% to throw behind the victor in this "horse race." And, of course, the effects that Ridge's death would have on the Hope/Liam/Steffy triangle as Steffy is distraught and virtually inconsolable (save for the love of Liam) over losing her father; and for Hope, with losing her father figure (though her most significant and supportive father figure was Nick) decides to summon Deacon back to town so that she could truly develop a relationship with him. And with Deacon back in town, and a handsome, sexy new male character in the form of a cut-throat lawyer for Brooke to help her with her fight for Forrester Creations(and in her bedroom) who just happens to share a college-days past with Taylor... the possibilities are endless. And could drive interesting and engaging story this show for many, Many, MANY more years.

PS: On a separate note, it sounds like CBS is playing hardball with the Bell family.

Is that disgusting hag MAB still on the Y&R payroll? She'll probably try to hire Moss before they drag her from the building kicking and screaming.

Maybe Ronn Moss will grow his hair out and go back to SINGING!

Coffee,

No, MAB is no longer at Y&R. Her last day of work was Friday, August 3 and Jill Farren Phelps and Josh Griffiths started on Monday, August 6. BTW, the entire Y&R cast and crew was given a mandatory one week vacation so that Jill and the new writing team could get going on stuff without the cast and crew bugging them.

Not only does he seem to only know how to write one kind of male character, but the execution is terrible. I'm not really sure what happened in the last year. Is it just me, or did Liam seem to have some integrity earlier on? I remember liking him at some point.

I feel like every rule I ever learned in every writing class or book I've read gets broken relentlessly and in the worst ways on this show. I have never seen a show on TV in recent years where dialog/plotholes imply that TPTB genuinely do not care at all what happens to their series. It's like they're TRYING to make it fail.

It feels like fourth graders are writing this. Actually, in fourth grade I knew how to construct a story better than these writers seem to.

Is this just a case of what happens when you hire within the family? Can we get some fresh non-Bell talent, who is also familiar with the show, to come in and fix things?

I give all of the actors credit for spewing some of the most terrible lines I've seen in ages.

when Liam first started on the show, he was a decent guy.

but then after he found out that Bill was his dad he has now de-evolved during the Hope/Steffy mess.

i quit watching B&B years ago because i got tired of the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor mess. i honestly didn't see what they were fighting for & actually the one who had him was the loser & the other one only had to wait a year & she could have him back. it was like watching that show with the Mormons who have multiple wives who he went from wife to wife, only that was better written.

i don't know how much soap actors are paid nowdays but i know it's not what they were getting or may be the same as they were getting back in the 80's & 90's when soaps were at their peak & then they started losing viewers in the Neilson ratings with women having to work also & would tape it & watch it later.

Another actor who's ego is superinflated.

His style is so stuck in the 80s, he appears cartoonish.

And he was never the strongest actor on the show.

I don't mind that he's gone. Maybe it inspires Brad Bell to write some brilliant story. He could use this - and if he kills Ridge off - for years!

I never saw Ronn Moss as a strong actor. And even though it's kind of tragic, considering he's been with the show since the beginning and part of this show's main couple. But again it could be a great opportunity for Bell IF he's willing to take it.

Otherwise this show could be doomed, by 2 million viewers in a year, trying to bring Ridge back in some weird Prince Omar storyline. Just sayin'.

STOP ENCOURGING THE "MOUSTACHE"! This is great news for BB if they are smart they can set up a great storyline for Brooke, Eric and Stephanie ! Do not recast! Have Ridge die! Bring brooke back into FC and have her fight for his inherited shares, this is a perfect chance to have a great storyline between between brooke and stephanie. BUT knowing these writers they will explore this story for a week and rush back to Liam/Hopeless/ Messty

Well, this is quite the shock. I didnt see that one coming. Lets hope thast Brad is going to explore the possibilities with this.

The focus is not going to be on the Forresters. I dont think thats a good idea. SF is leaving the show and JmC has not enough fanbase to hold on the viewers. KKL is a fifferent story and she is still vital and I think next to SF the most important person on this show.

First thing do. Bring back Jack Wagner. They need a new lead next to Bill and Jack would be great. I would love for him and Brooke to take over Forrester. Thrown Deacon Sharpe in the mix, but not as a potential love but as a potential threat for the two. I think it would be great. Deacon has a lot of ties to this show, with Hope and yes with Jackie. Bring her back too, and her toyboy too. Deacon Sharpe could be a possible threat for her relationship too. The only thing they need to arrange, is they need Deacon to give a job. He should find something to blackmail Bill and get a job at Spencer. A second fashionhouse is not going to happen...so its all I know for now.

Then its time to trim some dead weight. Pam and Taylor are out. Especially when SF leaves, there is nothing left for them.

Focus on this wild idea that I just gave you and bring back the camp and the action that this soap used to have. I mean the younger generartionn needs to stay on, but without the older generation butting in all the time. Liam should stay with Hope and Steffy, you people said it before, would be an explosive combination with Deacon. That could be the reason Bill hires him Smile So that Deacon leevs her alone... God so much possibilities.
BTW I am from Europe, and in Europe they love Ronn Moss and KKL. Its really amazing. I always believed Brad Bell writes his show for the non-american viewers so now its time to give those people what they want.

BTW...ideas of giving Thorne more to do or Felicia...I think that would be the worst idea ever.

They HAVE to bring back Deacon now for a permanent stint. I agree with booze26 Jack Wagner returning as Nick would be great.

I want Thorne & Felicia on my screen ASAP.
Please let Liam choose Steffy ASAP! Then send them to Europe. So tired of the kids!

Contract ploy anyone? Sounds like the usual game actors play when they don't like their new contract offer.

Even with pay cuts these actors make much more than the average person. So maybe they'll have to scale down to a $1,000,000 home rather than a $3,000,000 house. Boo Hoo.

Time for these people to suck it up and join the real world.

This serves as a warning to Brad Bell. If he keeps showcasing Steffy/Liam/Hope every single freakin day and neglecting his core cast who have been there since day one, Ron Moss will not be the only one to leave. I wouldn't be shocked if Susan Flannery, Hunter Tylo, KK Lang and John McCook follow Ron out the door as well.

It sounds like it might have been a contact ploy on HIS part, but when the good B&B rep hit 'im where the good Lord split 'im with a big slammin' statement, that kind of changed the rules. Wink
